Plugging a bit of dynamism into headless eCommerce

Applying visual polish onto the online experience whilst adhering to the design systems we had also put in place.

Belstaff is a luxury high street clothing brand operating globally from the UK. Much of its revenue comes from online sales, designed by SOON_ and supported by SOON_’s headless eCommerce infrastructure.

A third party client to Belstaff had created a visual look and feel for a series of components that they wanted to integrate into their site. What made these components stand out from what already existed was their dynamism: motion and responsiveness was key to their design.

The existing site had been built by SOON_, but was largely static in appearance: It was for us to integrate these new designs into our design system and make the look and feel that we had been presented with into something robust.

What we did

  • Created a series of eleven components, working across all breakpoints, that Belstaff could themselves integrate into their site via our CMS.

  • Created interactive prototypes in Framer. This enabled us to highlight any blind spots that weren’t exposed within look and feel or our static Figma pages.

  • As we would with static Design Systems, we built up a system for dynamic elements that allowed us to work efficiently and consistently.

  • Built up a strong relationship with the client that enabled us to work together and understand each others needs.

  • Designed and built a user friendly CMS that the client could use to easily build up customer facing pages.
